Women's Basketball Gets Knocked Out in PSUAC Semi-Finals

YORK, PA (February 18, 2017) - The number one seeded Penn State Lehigh Valley Women's Basketball team got shocked on Saturday afternoon when #4 PSU Brandywine handed Lehigh Valley there first conference loss of the season by downing LV, 82-70, in the semi-finals of the PSUAC tournament.

Lehigh Valley came into the tournament without a loss in conference play, going a perfect 14-0 in regular season and not losing a game since end of December. Brandywine shot a season-high 15-24 from 3 point land and outrebounded Lehigh Valley 51-33. Brandywine held a slight 1 point lead at halftime, thanks to an Andrea Watkins 3 point shot to go in the locker room, 39-38, but Brandywine's hot shooting would continue in the 3rd quarter. Lehigh Valley would cut the deficit to 9 points in the 4th but could never string together enough runs to advance to the championship game.

Three players were in double figures, led by Ebony Sanders with 16 points. Hannah Bankes recorded 14 points and Andrea Watkins chipped in with 13 points.

Lehigh Valley's overall record is 19-3 and will await an at-large bid to the USCAA National Tournament. The selection show is slated for 5 PM on Tuesday. The tournament begins on March 1st in Uniontown, PA.
