Penn State Lehigh Valley Defeats Penn State Schuylkill 3?1 in PSUAC Quarterfinals Matchup

The Penn State Lehigh Valley men?s soccer team capped off its regular season with an impressive 3?1 victory over Penn State Schuylkill on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Nittany Lions improved to 10-2-3 overall and 6-1-2 in conference play, securing strong momentum heading into postseason play.

Lehigh Valley opened the scoring early in the first half when Shawn Venet found the back of the net in the 16th minute, assisted by Jack Montesdeoca and Ali Salem, giving the home team a 1?0 lead. Schuylkill responded early in the second half to level the match, but Lehigh Valley wasted no time reclaiming control.

In the 55th minute, Montesdeoca scored off an assist from Remy Chaker to put Lehigh Valley back in front, and Venet added his second goal of the match in the 72nd minute to seal the 3?1 win.

The Lehigh Valley offense was dominant, recording 34 total shots and 20 on goal, compared to Schuylkill?s 15 shots and 9 on target. Venet led the charge with nine shots and two goals, while Montesdeoca tallied a goal and an assist. Mahdi Ali and Ali Salem each added assists as part of the balanced offensive effort.

On the defensive end, goalkeeper Kevin Gagner turned in another strong performance, making eight saves and allowing just one goal over 90 minutes of play.

For Schuylkill, Zack Wilcox scored the lone goal, while goalkeeper Bryce Hensley made 17 saves under heavy pressure.

The victory marks Penn State Lehigh Valley?s tenth win of the season, highlighting the team?s consistency and teamwork as they prepare for the upcoming conference tournament.
