Men's Basketball Stuns Marywood University in OT Thriller, 80-79

SCRANTON, PA (Nov. 5, 2021) - Penn State Lehigh Valley Men's Basketball played to a thrilling season opening win 80-79 in overtime at Marywood University Friday. The Lions and Pacers played before a raucous crowd of 555 fans.

Talek Williams led with 27 points on a 11-14 shooting night. Ki Barnes added 16 points and Christion Brown chipped in with 11 points to round out the double digit scoring column. 

The Lions came back from an 11-point deficit at halftime, 35-24, to even the score with 5:37 remaining on a Ki Barnes layup in the paint. Marywood quickly drained a 3-pointer to take the lead, and later hit a long ball to cut a four-point deficit down to one at the 2:01 mark. Marywood had the chance to win the game with 2 free throws with 1 second remaining in regulation but could not convert sending the game into Overtime where the Lions took control.

Lehigh Valley will turn around and play in their home opening game Saturday, Nov. 6th at Stabler Arena @ Lehigh University part of their doubleheader White Out game. Women will tip at 3 PM and the Men will tip versus Bucks County Community College at 5 PM.
