Volleyball Splits At PSU Mont Alto Tri-Match

MONT ALTO, PA (Sept. 18, 2016) - The Penn State Lehigh Valley Women's Volleyball team improved to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in PSUAC play with a split at host PSU Mont Alto Sunday afternoon. 

In the first match of the day, Lehigh Valley dominated PSU Hazleton in three with scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-19. Freshman Ebony Sanders had a game-high 12 kills. Freshman Shellbie Yard lead Lehigh Valley with 16 assists and junior Cricket Lennon chipped in with 11 helpers.

In a very competitive 2nd match, Lehigh Valley took Mont Alto to 5 sets but could not pull off the match victory. After being down two sets to start (25-16, 25-17) Lehigh Valley would rally back to win sets three and four (25-22, 25-20) but dropping set five 15-11. Sanders continued dominance by having a game-high 23 kills. Freshman Darleenn Altema-Bouzi recorded 16 kills. Yard had 22 assists and Lennon contributed 21 assists.

Lehigh Valley will travel to PSUAC opponent PSU Wilkes Barre Tuesday evening for a single match showdown.
