Women's Basketball Goes 2-0 in Western PA Back to Back Games

PITTSBURGH, PA (Jan. 20 & 21) - The Penn State Lehigh Valley Women's Basketball team traveled out west in first place and stayed in first place in the PSUAC standings with two crucial victories over PSU Greater Allegheny, 92-50, and defending PSUAC champs, PSU Beaver, 71-62, on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

On Friday against Greater Allegheny, Lehigh Valley was led by the hot shooting of Hannah Bankes who shot 6-12 from long range for a season-high 28 points. Andrea Watkins added 18 points. Kereece Seuren chipped in with 12 points and Ebony Sanders recorded 10 points.

With a quick turn around, Lehigh Valley faced rival PSU Beaver on Saturday. Beaver held a slight halftime advantage 35-32 but Lehigh Valley would bring the defensive intensity to open the 3rd quarter outscoring Beaver 24-14. Lehigh Valley held a double digit advantage the rest of the game. Five players were in double figures led by Gia Erie with 17 points. Andrea Watkins chipped in with 15 points. Ebony Sanders recorded a double-double with 13 points & 14 rebounds. Hannah Bankes and Ashley Gordon added 12 points a piece.

With the wins, Lehigh Valley improves to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in PSUAC play. Lehigh Valley will face visiting PSUAC opponent PSU York, Tuesday night at Cedar Crest College for a 6 PM tip-off.
