Women's Basketball Begins 2016 With Victory Over PSU York, 81-25

ALLENTOWN, PA (January 6, 2016) - The Penn State Lehigh Valley Women's Basketball team opened 2016 in winning fashion defeating conference opponent Penn State York, 81-25, Wednesday night at Cedar Crest College.  Lehigh Valley improves to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in PSUAC play.

Sophomore Hannah Bankes lead Lehigh Valley with a game-high 23 points in her season debut for Lehigh Valley.  Bankes shot 10-20 from the field.  Junior Ashley Gordon recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Sophomore Andrea Watkins chipped in with 13 points and 6 assists. Freshman Lizzy Leiby recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Gia Erie contributed with a game-high 18 rebounds.

Lehigh Valley led 43-16 at haltime and never looked back before finishing the game with the 81-25 victory to remain undefeated in PSUAC action.  Katie McNamara led Penn State York with 13 points.

Lehigh Valley will have a quick turn around as they travel to Central Penn on Thursday for a 6 PM tip-off in a non-conference match-up.
