Women's Basketball Takes Down Penn State Brandywine, 83-76

MEDIA, PA (Dec. 8, 2015) – Penn State Lehigh Valley Women's Basketball had five players score in double digits and edged Penn State Brandywine in a back-and-forth affair by a score of 83-76 in PSUAC action on Tuesday Night in Media.

Brandywine ran out to a 5-0 lead in the opening minutes until freshman Gia Erie connected on a layup at the 8:22 mark. Brandywine extended the lead to 20-11 before a pair of free throws made from  sophomore Nicole Amann, ending the first quarter 20-13.

Lehigh Valley started the second quarter strong, sparked by a three pointer by Amann, followed by a balanced offensive attack to knot the score at 22-22 at the 7:23 mark. Lehigh Valley took the lead 26-24 at the 6:16 mark off a Amann layup. Lehigh Valley would hold onto this lead heading into the half, 33-32.

The third quarter saw a good push by Brandywine upping their lead to six late in the third quarter, but Lehigh Valley quickly rallied back off an Andrea Watkins free throw to knot the score at 56-56 after 30 minutes.

The fourth quarter featured four lead changes and five ties with neither team leading by more than four until the final seconds. With just 2:38 left to play Lehigh Valley's freshman Llaci Henry sank back-to-back jumpers to even score at 73.

Brandywine fought back, but two-straight scores from Lehigh Valley's sophomore Kereece Seuren and freshman Gia Erie vaulted them in front with under 60 seconds to play, 77-75.

Lehigh Valley sank six free throws down the stretch and held Brandywine off the scoreboard to secure the win, 83-76.

Henry led the lions with a career-high 22 points, while Nicole Amann contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds and Watkins netted 13 points. Erie added 12 points and Ashley Gordon totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Lehigh Valley finishes 4-3 overall, 2-0 PSUAC before heading into break and will return to action in the new year on January 6, 2016 against conference opponent Penn State York.
