Jordan Young Receives PSUAC Egli Outstanding Scholar Athlete Award

STATE COLLEGE, PA (May 23, 2017) – The Penn State University Athletic Conference announced the 2017 John S. Egli and Robert J. Scannell Award Winners Tuesday afternoon at University Park.

The John S. Egli Outstanding Scholar Athlete Award was established in honor of Assistant Professor John Egli, in recognition of his long dedication and devotion to the Pennsylvania State University, where he served as student, athlete, faculty member, and coach.  Particularly noteworthy and significant was his service and contributions as the first Commonwealth Campus Coordinator of Athletics.  The award is presented annually to the outstanding male and female scholar athletes of the PSUAC.  The PSUAC Egli Scholar Athletes were chosen from a group of over 1,300 student athletes who participated in one or more varsity sports offered at the 13 locations that sponsor intercollegiate athletics.

2017 John S. Egli Outstanding Scholar Athlete Award Winners

Male Scholar Athlete of the Year:  Jordan Young, Penn State Lehigh Valley

Senior Jordan Young has been a member of the Penn State Lehigh Valley Men's Basketball program for four years.  Young has been an instrumental part of the programs' existence and success.  He has been a team captain for three years in addition to becoming the program's first ever male player to score 1,000 care points.  Young was named PSUAC All-Conference Honorable Mention.  He has achieved success in the classroom with a gpa over 3.0 and graduated earlier this May with a degree in Rehab & Human Services.  He worked locally and was involved in the campus community.
