Athletics Recognizes & Honors 4 Senior Athletes

CENTER VALLEY, PA (April 30, 2021) - The Penn State Lehigh Valley Athletics Department recognized 4 graduating senior athletes, Rebecca Fuehrer, Anaya White, Makayla Brown-Paul and Hesro Johnson, on Friday afternoon on campus. The quaint celebration included remarks from Athletic Director, Rich Fatzinger and Chancellor, Dr. Tina Richardson, while teammates, coaches, friends, and family joined to honor the commitment, dedication, and hard work of our senior athletes. PSULV's in game basketball announcer, Joe Moskal, was the MC for the event.

ABOUT EACH SENIOR ATHLETE:

Rebecca Fuehrer has been a member of the Women's Volleyball program for 2 seasons and the Women's Basketball program for 1 season, Becca was a transfer from Gwynedd Mercy University. In basketball, Fuehrer appeared in 28 games & compiled 156 points including a season-high 20 points in a 107-78 win over Greater Allegheny. She was a member of the 2018-2019 Women's Basketball Championship team. In Fuehrer's junior year, she was a Middle Blocker for the Volleyball team, never played before she picked up the sport very quickly & helped her team to the PSUAC playoffs. Becca was on the Dean's List & was named to the PSUAC All-Academic team every semester while at PSULV. Becca will graduate Penn State with a degree in Psychology and will be pursuing her doctorate in clinical psychology at Immaculata University in the Fall. Becca is a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School and from Allentown, PA.

Anaya White has been an intricate member of the women's basketball program for 4 seasons, compiling a win-loss total of 58 wins and 20 losses. Anaya started in 51 of 75 games in a PSULV uniform. White was one of the teams most versatile players, compiling 525 points & being ranked one of the top rebounders in the PSUAC with 452 rebounds in her career. In each of Anaya's seasons, she helped her team qualify for the PSUAC playoffs every year including 2 appearances in PSUAC Championship games. Helping her team to the programs first ever PSUAC Championship and school best 24 straight wins in her sophomore season. Anaya will graduate from Penn State with a degree in Rehab & Human Services and is exploring several different options after graduation. Anaya is a graduate of Stroudsburg High School and from Newark, NJ.

Makayla Brown-Paul has been one of the most selfless players to put on a PSULV uniform. Makayla played in 71 games, compiling a total of 213 points. In each of Makayla's seasons, she helped her team qualify for PSUAC playoffs including 2 appearances in PSUAC Championship games and being apart of the 2018-2019 Championship team. For her outstanding teamwork & positive attitude, Makayla has been awarded the John Fritz Sportsmanship award 4 times. She was named PSUAC All-Academic 4 times. Makayla has been an excellent ambassador for our PSULV campus as she was elected to the PSUAC Student-Athlete Advisory Council, served on several Athletic Open House Student panels, was president of the Black Student Union Club and created the Athletes Helping Athletes program.  Makayla will graduate from Penn State with a degree in Rehab & Human Services and a minor in Psychology and has hopes to either seek a job in sports psychology, work with at-risk children and/or work with young athletes. Makayla is a graduate of Oxon Hill High School and from Oxon Hill, MD.

Hesro Johnson has been a committed & dedicated member of the PSULV Men's Basketball program for 3 seasons, transferring from Prairie View A&M & Penn State Dubois, Hesro started in 31 of 46 games in a PSULV uniform. Johnson has compiled a total of 443 points and a team leading 16 points per game and was ranked 6th overall in the PSUAC in scoring in his junior season. He was ranked in the top 2 in statistical leaders for PSULV Men's Basketball in FG %, 3 point %, FT %, assist per game and steals per game. In Hesro's sophomore season, he helped his team to a spot in the PSUAC playoffs. Hesro has been an amazing ambassador for the PSULV campus as he served on numerous Athletic Open House Student-Athlete panels and is a member of the PSUAC SAAC. Hesro was named to PSUAC All-Academic 2 times.  Hesro will graduate Penn State with a degree in Business and has signed a contract to play post grad overseas for Nottingham Trent University in England next season. Hesro is a graduate of Kings Christian Academy High School and from Prince George's County, MD.
